important seaport for the South (like Boston was for New England).
During the Revolutionary War, a British
General, Sir Henry Clinton, invaded the South with almost 9,000
soldiers. They captured 5,500 patriot prisoners and the city
of Charleston. It looked like England might win the war.
But it's not Boston!
