The Compass Rose: One of the oldest navigation instruments in the world.
The Astrolabe: The first instrument that allowed mariners to determine their latitude... allowing them to sail out of site of land without getting lost.
The Traverse Board: This instrument was used to keep track of the ship's direction. Sailors who were illiterate or spoke a different language coud still track the ship's movements accurately.
